Join-hands with Love fund-raising concert
In order to help a Chinese immigrant family who lost their loved one due to traffic accident, and a family whose young child suffers from serious sickness, CPAC and other Chinese community organizations will present a Join-hands with Love fund-raising concert, at 7:00 pm, Sunday, February 19, 2006, at Toronto Korean Presbyterian Church, 67 Scarsdale Rd. (Leslie / York Mills), North York.
This concert is jointly presented by Shandong Community Service Association of Canada, Chinese immigrant emergency relief fund, and Chinese Professionals Association of Canada, and is supported by many Chinese community groups in greater Toronto area. The fund-raising effort is response to recent incidences happened in the local Chinese community: Mr. Zhong Daochang, a new (one year) immigrant from China, died recently due to a traffic accident while riding a bicycle. Zhong is the principal income source for his family, including his 12-year old daughter and his wife, both still in China. In another case, Wu Xiaoke, a three year old boy, was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Both of these two families badly need financial support.
The above incidences have drawn great attention among the Chinese community, and have also got highly extensive coverage in the local Chinese media. The Chinese-language newspapers and web sites have carried a series of reports about these two cases.
Many top performers and stars in Toronto Chinese community have volunteered to join this charity concert, making this concert a very high quality and attractive. But the main reason for people to join this concert is for expression of love and care to the immigrant families who suffer significant difficulties. We wish our members can join this concert, to show our love and our concerns, not only to the victim families, but also to each one of us in this community.
