由于鸟巢的设计缺陷，使用过于复杂的钢结构，而且高度太低。
在晴天的时候，钢结构的阴影覆盖在整个足球场上，使得座在远处的观众跟本无法分辨球场上的复杂阴影和运动员。
所以鸟巢目前只能在晚上在灯光照明下使用 。
